Hazelton is made up of several small communities that have developed over the years. Some are indigenous based while others grew with the trade route coming up the Skeena River.

In Old Hazelton, there is a replica of a stern wheeler that used to ply the Skeena all the way from the Pacific Ocean to Hazelton.
